Janice McGill Sentenced For Escape From Midway Rehabilitation Center
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Janice Lynn McGill, 43, of Knoxville, Tenn., was sentenced on August 8, 2012 to serve 12 months in federal prison and supervised release for three years, for escape from a federal institutional facility. McGill will serve this new sentence consecutive to the remainder of her previous sentence at the time of her escape.
On April 30, 2012, McGill pleaded guilty plea to an information charging her with one count of escape. The sentencing was held before U.S. District Court Judge Thomas W. Phillips.
McGill had been sentenced on December 14, 2009, to a term of 45 months in federal prison for criminal offenses involving fraud in connection with an access device and aggravated identity theft. Following a term of confinement at a federal prison camp, McGill was transferred to Midway Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville to complete the final portion of her sentence. On February 17, 2012, she walked away from her assigned workplace and did not return. She was subsequently apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service.
The conviction was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank M. Dale, Jr. represented the United States.
